Twic East County, Jonglei State –
May 19, 2025 — The people of Twic East County
and the wider Jonglei State are mourning the loss of former County Commissioner
Deng Mabeny Kuot, who passed away on the evening of Sunday, May 18,
2025, at his residence in Juba. He had been battling liver cancer, a condition
linked to a prolonged Hepatitis infection.
Commissioner Mabeny had sought
medical care in both Nairobi and India, pursuing every avenue available in his
fight against the illness. Despite the efforts of medical professionals abroad,
his condition remained critical. He returned home recently, where he spent his
final days surrounded by loved ones.
In an official statement, the
current Commissioner of Twic East County, Juach Arok Juach, expressed
profound sorrow and extended condolences to the bereaved family and the entire
community.
“On behalf of Twic East County and
my own behalf, I do hereby extend my heartfelt condolences… for the fall of
former Commissioner Deng Mabeny Kuot,” Commissioner Juach said. “He has been
battling with sickness for all this time after his service at the county. Our
hearts pour out to the grieved families and the gap that he has left in our
community.”
Describing the late Mabeny as “a
towering figure of strength and dedication,” Commissioner Juach praised his
exemplary leadership and lifelong commitment to public service.
“His leadership in Twic East has
left a mark that will be cherished for generations to come,” he added. “May his
soul rest in peace, knowing that his spirit will live on in the lives he
touched and the hearts he uplifted.”
Throughout his tenure, Deng Mabeny
Kuot was known for his unwavering dedication to development, peacebuilding, and
unity in Twic East County. His leadership was marked by integrity, humility,
and a deep love for his people.
He is survived by his wife and three
children — two daughters and a son.
A memorial service is expected to be
announced in the coming days to honor his life and legacy.
